Any goal or outcome that is not achieved (intentional or unintentional)
Threat
any environment, attitude, condition or other influence on the quality of your decision.
Reason’s Model
- Administrative oversight(policies/ licenses)
- Supervisory(identify and correct, ex: Problem- cops)
- Precondition(fatigue and information overload)
- Operator Actions(errors and persistent violations)
Multiple Resource Theory
describes human information processing. (resources: brain capabilities)
Stages
Perceptual and cognitive(higher levels of activity to process information)
Response and selection(refers to performance of learned skills
Input Sources
how is the information processed? ( visual and auditory ONLY)
Processing Codes
What primary tasks are performed?(language skills(words) and spatial skills(looking at a map))
Response Type
What action is performed?(vocal or motor(movement))
Selective Attention
monitoring separate sources of information (sequentially) to perform a task.(Ex: load stress is the number of sources. /speed stress is the rate the information is changing./ Of the two, load stress is a greater factor in performance.
• Decrease the number of source you have monitor, place gauges closer together
