Blink Reflex Flashcards
What is the R1 response?
Ipsilateral, representing disynaptic reflex pathway between main sensory nucleus of V in the mid-pons and the ipsilateral facial nucleus in the lower pontine tegmentum
What is the R2 response?
Bilateral, multisynaptic pathway between the nucleus of the spinal tract of V in the ipsilateral pons and medulla and interneurons forming connections in the ipsilateral and contralateral facial nuclei
What are typical R1 and R2 latencies?
10-12 ms; 30-40 ms
What could elicit an R1 response bilaterally?
Glabellar tap
What is the absolute R1 latency? Ipsilateral R2 latency? Contralateral R2 latency? What about the difference in these latencies?
Less than 13; less than 41; less than 44;
less than 1.2; less than 5; less than 7
