teaching approach where both traditional face to face learning and online/computer mediated activities are integrated
synchronous learning
learning event where the learner and instructor are in the same place at the same time
Asynchronous learning
courses that are not conducted in real time, students conduct course work on their own time
MOOC
massively open online course. blended or online, learn at your own pace
flipped classroom
lectures are to be done at home, homework is done in class when the teacher is available to help students
Reasons to blend
increased motivation and engagement, immediate feedback, reduce operational costs, personalize learning system, competency based learning
self blend model
students opt to take course online, student may not have access to class, self motivation is needed
rotational model
fixed schedule of when students are online vs in person. in the middle of the spectrum for online vs in person
flex model
students work at their own pace on computers in the classroom. Teachers are present to supervise within the classroom setting
Online driver model
Most online model. teacher is facilitator, students can choose where they learn. All aspects online
