Bleeding disorders Flashcards
What are disorders that affect primary haemostasis (formation of platelet plug)?
What sort of problems would affect platelets?
What are the differences in bleeding patterns with primary and secondary haemostatic failure?
Describe henoch-schonlein purpura (HSP) and it’s relevance to bleeding disorder
What is the function of vWF (2) and what is the usual cause of vWF deficiency?
What are disorders that affect secondary haemostasis (formation of fibrin clot)?
What is aptt and pt?
PT is the time in seconds that it takes plasma to clot after the addition of phospholipid, tissue factor (factor III), and calcium to the specimen. aPTT is the time in seconds that it takes plasma to clot after the addition of a contact agent that fully activates factors XII along with calcium and phospholipids.
