Name and describe the five primary offerings of Leviticus
1) sin offering -involuntary- covered for the sins against god, was what people could afford
2) guilt offering -involuntary- addressed sins against others and included paying damages w/ interest, was what people could afford
3) burnt offering -voluntary- represented complete dedication and submission to god,animal needed to be unblemished
4) grain offering -voluntary- (meal) offered to god as a sign of thanksgiving
5) fellowship -voluntary- sign of fellowship and peace w/ god through blood shed

The purpose of this was to remind people of the tents that they lived in when they left Egypt. Point to a new heaven and new earth

Only the high priest could enter, once a year on the day of atonement. Before entering they headed to preform extensive purification ceremony. Consisted of 2 goats. 1 to cover the sins of the people and 1 to cover the sins of people out of the country

you could not enter the tabernacle court yard to offer sacrifices
1) god is holy
2) he does not take our sin lightly
3) does not want a mix of sinful and holy people. He makes differences between people who live in sin and who are repentant
Four types of Levitical laws
1) moral- 10 commandments (applies)
2) civil- everyday laws. Ex. Building codes (no)
3) ceremonial- priests and sacrifices (no)
4) separation- Jewish people, things like circumcision (yes)

Why were the laws repeated a second time in Deuteronomy?
To remind the people of the laws god gave to Moses after a big time gap.
