Bankroll
Amount of $ player brings to spend on games
Blackjack
Refers to “natural 21”; when player receives exactly 21 in two cards: ace & card value equal 10 (10, face cards)
Blackjack payout
1.5 :1 or 3:2. Also called time and half implying that initial wage plus half it’s value. Ex. $25 wage = $25 initial match + half of such $12.50 so total payout equals $25 + $12.50 = $37.50 payout
Burn card
First card discarded face-down in discard rack
Bust
To exceed the total of 21 with value of cards
Cut
To divide the deck
Cut card
A simple card clearly identifiable & used after shuffle to protect integrity of bottom card from players view
Deal
To give cards to players
Double down / double
When player has ace showing he or she may double-down by requesting only one additional card dealt
Draw
The cards totals are equal. Called a push. Player matching dealer’s hand does not lose nor win any cheques. They merely retain original wager
Even money
Both dealers& player have blackjack k
Face card
A card that has images of Jack, King, Queen upon them; hence, title of “face” card
Pip
Small characters on numbered cards that represent value of card. Clubs, spades, diamonds, hearts each have pips equalling number value given with visual quantity of such
Up card
Card that is played so its value is up & visible
First base
First player on dealer’s left
Third base
Last player on dealer’s right
Hard total
Hand not containing an ace so that total value absolutely equals numbers on cards
Soft17
When hand has an ace or more; thus, ace value may be counted as 1or 11
Hard 17
When hand does not contai an ace & does not equal anything but total of 17
