Q

what’s black hole

A

a pt in space - matter - so compressed to create a gravity field - even light can’t esc
light - chaotically bent & twisted
also superheated gas & dust

Q

parts of black holes

A

2
1. singularity - @ its core - infinitely dense cz all the remnant mass of the star - compressed into this pt
2. event horizon - a region of space beyond black hole - a “pt of no return” - impossible to esc the gravitational effects

Q

EHT project

A

EHT = grp of 8 radio telescopes @ diff parts of the wrld
2006 - IN grp of > 200 researchers led by harvard univ astronomers launched the project with 1 aim: to capture a direct shot of a black hole

Q

general theory of relativity

A

a theory of gravity
instead of being an invisible force (attracting one obj to another) - it’s a curving / warping of space
the more massive an obj, the more it warps the space around it
