White Belt
Symbolizes the purity of a beginner, with little or no knowledge of martial arts.
Ready Stance
“joon-be” feet a shoulder width apart, hands in front saying “True Champion Sir!”
Attention Stance
“charyot” feet together, hands at your side, saying “I’m a winner Sir!”
Guard Stance
right leg back, hands up (often times with a yell)
Bow
same as a handshake in the USA. A symbol of respect saying “Future Black Belt Sir!”
Hand Shake
a nice greeting and symbol of respect
Kihap
a yell meaning “spirit”
Yellow Belt
Symbolizes that a student likened to the seed and is just beginning to see sunlight.
Front Stance
Front knee over belt, back knee locked, feet parallel
1. Feet are shoulder width apart
2. Front knee bent slightly
3. Weight is 65% on front leg
4. Weight is 35% on back leg
4 Reason We Yell
PAST - Power, Attitude, Scare opponent, Tighten body
Horse Stance
Both knees bent or middle stance
1. Feet shoulder length apart with feet parallel
2. Weight is 50/50
Orange Belt
Symbolizes that the sun is at its brightest. The student has changed degrees and is no longer a beginner.
Angle of any good block
110 degrees
Side Kick
Strike with heel of foot
Front Snap Kick
Strike with ball of foot
Green Belt
Symbolizes a seed of a plant, has just began to grow. By now student should be refining his or her techniques. The student is no longer a beginner.
Crescent Kick
Strike with the blade of the foot
Dangun
A form - Dangun was the legendary founder of Korea in 2333 b.c.
