what does a caries risk assessment determine in regards to radiographs

high risk child - every 6 months
moderate risk child - annually
low risk child - 12-18 months deciduous (child teeth), 2 or more years permanent
describe a horizontal bitewing
long axis of film is in the horizontal plane
usually 1 radiograph per side
should see distal 4 to mesial 8
place bitw block in the middle of the 6
must show crown and 1/3rd of the root
describe a vertical bitewing
long axis of receptor in vertical plane
irradiates the paient 4 times
can be uncomfortable for patient
will show more of the root but not the apex
what colour is the bitewing holder
red
when should what receptor size be used (for a bitewing)
adult - 2
child over 10 - 2
child under 10 - 1
what technique can be used if you cant get a bitewing on a child
