Signs and Behavior
A
Dilation of cervix 2-24 hrs
Single themselves out, uncomfortable, tail elevation, increased fluids

Stage 2
A
can last 2-5 hrs typically, water bag is present, fetus in birth canal, typically wait 1hr fora heifer to jump in and help, wait about 30 minutes to jump in for cows

A
shedding of placenta (4-5 hrs, 12 hrs= Retained placenta)

What is PPI
A
Postpartum interval, # of days to get back to normal for breeding

Why could a C-section be bad
A
Most producers will cull the cow and send it to auction

A
Utter becomes full, Springing (Swollen vulva, signs of heat essentially)
