Birthdays Flashcards
John 4:24
God is a Spirit: and they that worship him MUST worship him in spirit and in truth.
We must sincerely want to worship God as he told us to if we are true believers.
Proverbs 3:31
Envy thou not the oppressor and choose NONE of his ways.
Don’t desire what your oppressors/other nations are doing
Ecclesiastes 4:1 (oppressors have power and influence to set up systems to get you to follow their ways and glorify their customs)
God gives us our own customs
Leviticus 23:2, 32
2 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, concerning the feasts of the Lord, which ye shall proclaim to be holy convocations, even these are my feasts.
A lot of our feasts are multi day celebrations (Passover/feast of Unleavened Bread, Tabernacles, Feast of Dedication), and God gives us specific instruction on HOW to celebrate them.
We have 52 Sabbaths, 12 New Moons, and 9 Holy days. That’s 73 holidays in a year. Way more than what the world gives. Over 1 celebration per week.
32 it shall be unto you a Sabbath of rest, and ye shall afflict your souls: in the ninth day of the month at even, from even unto even, shall ye celebrate your sabbath.
God is all about celebration in honor of HIM. To celebrate your deliverance by the Hand of the Most High God.
Leviticus 18:1-4
Leviticus 18:1 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
Leviticus 18:2 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, I am the LORD your God.
Leviticus 18:3 After the doings of the land of Egypt, wherein ye dwelt, shall ye not do: and after the doings of the land of Canaan, whither I bring you, shall ye not do: neither shall ye walk in their ordinances.
Leviticus 18:4 Ye shall do my judgments, and keep mine ordinances, to walk therein: I am the LORD your God.
Now that you’ve left Egypt the things you learned there I don’t want you do to ever again. God chose us to stand out
But what we’re the doings that we’re practiced in Egypt because how do we know if we’re obeying God or not? Guess who the first people documented that celebrated birthdays in the Bible.
Genesis 40:20-22
Genesis 40:20 And it came to pass the third day, which was Pharaoh’s birthday, that he made a feast unto all his servants: and he lifted up the head of the chief butler and of the chief baker among his servants.
The first time you read about birthdays it’s the Pharoah of Egypt and he had a birthday celebration and invited all his servants
Genesis 40:21 And he restored the chief butler unto his butlership again; and he gave the cup into Pharaoh’s hand:
Genesis 40:22 But he hanged the chief baker: as Joseph had interpreted to them.
Chief baker was killed during pharoahs birthday. Pharoah was an oppressor. This is oppressive. The scriptures say envy not the oppressor and choose none of his ways. Let’s get another example.
2 Maccabees 6:6-9
2 Maccabees 6:6 Neither was it lawful for a man to keep sabbath days or ancient fasts, or to profess himself at all to be a Jew.
This is more oppression Antiochus Epinenes was an oppressor. Epinenes means God manifested. He professed himself to be a God and one of the ways he made you honor him was celebrating his birthday.
2 Maccabees 6:7 And in the day of the king’s birth every month they were brought by bitter constraint to eat of the sacrifices; and when the fast of Bacchus was kept, the Jews were compelled to go in procession to Bacchus, carrying ivy.
Pharoah made a feast and so did Antiochus. This is where the sacrifices came from. Our people were forced to celebrate it against our will. We had our own customs at this time.
2 Maccabees 6:8 Moreover there went out a decree to the neighbour cities of the heathen, by the suggestion of Ptolemee, against the Jews, that they should observe the same fashions, and be partakers of their sacrifices:
A letter was written to force us to assimilate into their traditions.
2 Maccabees 6:9 And whoso would not conform themselves to the manners of the Gentiles should be put to death. Then might a man have seen the present misery.
People we’re getting put to death during the time of Pharoah and during the time of Antiochus both oppressors.

The climax of the desecrations came on Chislev 25 (16th December 167 BC), when he erected a statue of Zeus (himself!) in the temple. Then, on an altar erected on the top of the altar of burnt offering, pigs were offered to Zeus (1 Macc 1:54-61, predicted in Dan 11:31b). This was the ultimate blasphemy for Jews, to see the unclean blood of a pig sacrificed on the altar, thus desecrating the temple. Antiochus ordered that these sacrifices should be repeated on the 25th of each month, in celebration of his birthday, implying that the sacrifices were being made to himself.
When we are of the sacrifices we were eating unclean animals like pig. Now we do it willingly.
This is no different from how the celebrations now are where they celebrate and focus on a particular person, these traditions would be brought forth.
Anytime birthdays are mentioned in the Bible it’s always someone ungodly celebrating it.
Here when it talks about him doing it every month it’s not talking about his physical birthday, it was the day they “ascended to godhood”, which is why his name was Epiphanes “God manifest”. He looked at himself as Zeus or the Son God. This is idolatry just like you honoring yourself on your birthday is idolatry.

What holidays do Satanists celebrate?
Since Satanism is a self-centered religion, the highest holiday of the year would be the Satanist’s own birthday, which needs no ritual but should be spent in doing things a Satanist would enjoy.
The birthday is self promoting
Why do we as believers in Christ and God and Satanist share their favorite holiday?
God never told us to celebrate our birthdays.
You cannot take pagan customs and turn them into righteous traditions.
Mark 6:21-25
Mark 6:21 And when a convenient day was come, that Herod on his birthday made a supper to his lords, high captains, and chief estates of Galilee;
Herod is another oppressor that celebrates his birthday. Envy thou not the oppressor and choose NONE of their ways.
You don’t find faithful servants of God celebrating birthdays and God found it good in his sight.
This is Herod Antipas. Herod Antipas is the son of Herod the Great. Herod Antipas was married to Herodias.
Prior to that Herodias was married to her uncle Phillip (Herod Phillip or Herod II) Phillip was the brother of Herod Antipas. Phillip and Herod Antipas had the same father. Herodias comes from this lineage. She divorced Phillip to marry Antipas which were both her uncles.
Joh the Baptist was speaking out about how wicked this was that why she took issue with him.
Mark 6:22 And when the daughter of the said Herodias came in, and danced, and pleased Herod and them that sat with him, the king said unto the damsel, Ask of me whatsoever thou wilt, and I will give it thee.
Mark 6:23 And he sware unto her, Whatsoever thou shalt ask of me, I will give it thee, unto the half of my kingdom.
This was a birthday wish. Tell me what you want and I will give it to you.
Mark 6:24 And she went forth, and said unto her mother, What shall I ask? And she said, The head of John the Baptist.
She was still bitter with John the Baptist for him speaking out about her married two uncles.
Mark 6:25 And she came in straightway with haste unto the king, and asked, saying, I will that thou give me by and by in a charger the head of John the Baptist.
Herod Antipas didn’t want to do it but did it all in the name of birthdays. Those who celebrated bdays in the Bible were those who didn’t worship God. You don’t read about devout followers of God celebrating bdays.
2 Timothy 3:16
2 Timothy 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
If bdays are mentioned in the Bible but it’s never the true believers celebrating them that should tell you something. There’s always someone dying. Why didn’t God tell us to do these things?
If it’s in the Bible it’s because God wants you to learn something from it. If it’s in here and it’s negative every time then we should be wise to not follow it.
Flavius Josephus “Against Apion Book II” Section 26
“The Jews in Christ’s day knew God’s attitude toward birthday celebrations, ‘Nay, indeed, the law does not permit us to make festivals at the births of our children’
The World Book Encyclopedia (Volume 3, page 416)
“The early Christians did not celebrate His (Christ’s) birth because they considered the celebration of anyone’s birth to be a pagan custom.”
The Imperial Bible-Dictionary (London, 1874) Volume 1, page 225
“The later Hebrews looked on the celebrations of birthdays as a part of idolatrous worship, a view which would be abundantly confirmed by what they saw of the common observances associated with these days.”
The History of Christian Religion and Church, During the three First Centuries (New York, 1848), page 190
“The notion of a birthday festival was far from the ideas of the Christians of this period in general.”
Encyclopedia Judaica
“The celebration of birthdays is unknown in traditional Jewish ritual.”
