- parents have lots of children as some die (high infant mortality rates 0-4 years)
-children can work on the farm
-children look after parents, no old age pension scheme
-family planning.advice shortage/limited
infant mortality rates UP in LEDC is because
-of shortage medical services
-greater number children born
-poor nutrition
-poor knowledge of health
-dirty water supplies
