- The signing of the MORRILL ACT of 1862 by Pres. Lincoln during the Civil War
provided for the creation of LAND GRANT COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES. - The beginning of FARMERS’ INSTITUTE MOVEMENTS.
established a cooperative bond between the US Department of Agriculture and
the nation’s land grant colleges by providing annual federal funding for agricultural experiment
stations in all the states.
