Biotivity Flashcards
Learn key points to present Biotivity effectively
What is Biotivity?
A growth factor membrane
Who is the largest competitor to Biotivity?
BioXclude from Sonasis
The one with the smiley face
When meeting a customer to discuss Biotivity, what is your opening question?
Are you using a growth factor membrane? If so, which one?
You may need to dig deeper. Are you using the “smiley face” membrane?
What is a growth factor membrane?
A membrane that is processed from tissues that have a high concentration of growth factors for an improved and faster healing response.
What type of tissue is Biotivity derived from?
Human placental tissue
What are 7 points that demonstrate Biotivity’s best-in-class processing?
- Superior Handling
- No Antibiotics
- Terminally Sterile
- Resorbs in 8 weeks
- Comes in squares and rectangles. From 8x8 to 20x30
- Competitively priced
- Sterile product never delaminated and minimally manipulated to retain the natural tissue architecture
Biotivity is made up of 3 distinct layers - what are the layers called?
Amnion, Intermediate and Chorion
How many layers does BioXclude have?
2
What are the layers in BioXclude?
Amnion and Chorion - they delaminate the layers and remove the intermediate layer in processing
Why is the Intermediate layer important?
- It improves thickness and conformability
- Enhances handling and stretchability
- Provides additional collagen and biologic enhancers like hyaluronic acid, shown to facilitate wound healing
What procedures might Biotivity be suitable for?
GTR and GBR procedures,
Socket and ridge preservation,
Perforations to the Schneiderian membrane,
Ridge augmentation,
Peri-implant infections
What are 4 significant advantages to Biotivity over BioXclude?
- Key differenciator - Improvements to clinical manageability - Biotivity is easier work with and use clinically.
- Intermediate layer improve clinical manageability and provides collagen and hyaluronic acid
- No right or wrong side
- Local representation
What sizes is Biotivity available in?
8X8
12X12
10X20
15X20
15X25
20X30
What is an autogenous alternative to a growth factor membrane?
PRP - A blood draw from the patient. Then spinning the blood in a centrifuge to separate the white and red cells from the amber colored plasma. Autogenous is considered the gold standard because it is the patient’s own cells, but it can be a longer and more invasive process.
