Q

What is the fight of flight response?

A

The body’s response to acute stress
Sometimes described as the SAM response
When the body perceives a stressor the HYPOTHALAMUS activates the sympathetic branch of the AUTONOMIC NERVOUS SYSTEM
This prompts the ADRENAL MEDULLA to produce adrenaline and noradrenaline

Q

Adrenal gland

A

Produces cortisol from the adrenal cortex (outer) and adrenaline and noradrenaline from the adrenal medulla (inner)

17
Q

Pituitary gland

A

Master gland in the brain
Regulates many of the body’s functions
Made up of two sections - Anterior pituitary and posterior
