Biometrics Flashcards

1
Q

How does biometric data work?

A

Digital biometric data is not a 100% accurate representation of, for example, a fingerprint or a face. Instead, the biometric capture renders a number of specific points on the feature rather than the feature itself.

Q

why are different sensors used in biometrics?

A

Many different sensors have to be used to capture biometric data as the variability in subjects (people) means it isn’t possible to do this accurately using one sensor.

Q

What is the main disadvantage to biometrics?

A

When many sensors are used to capture large amounts of biometric data a significant amount of processing is required.

Q

What can cause issues with detection in biometrics?

A

Changes to the underlying metrics can cause access issues, for example a subject having a plaster on a finger.
