Biomes Vocab Flashcards
Tropical Rainforest
is a hot, moist biome found near Earth’s equator.
Temperate Rainforest
are coniferous or broadleaf forests that occur in the temperate zone and receive heavy rainfall.
Temperate Decidious Rainforest
forests that are dominated by trees that lose their leaves each year.
Taiga
the sometimes swampy coniferous forest of high northern latitudes, especially that between the tundra and steppes of Siberia and North America..
Savanna
a rolling grassland scattered with shrubs and isolated trees, which can be found between a tropical rainforest and desert biome
Temperate Grassland
are a division of a larger biome grouping of grasslands that includes tropical savannas
Chaparral
vegetation consisting chiefly of tangled shrubs and thorny bushes.
Desert
is a barren area of land where little precipitation occurs and consequently living conditions are hostile for plant and animal life
Tundra
a type of biome where the tree growth is hindered by low temperatures and short growing seasons.
Lakes and ponds
a body of water shallow enough to support rooted plants.
Marsh and swamps
a place where the plants that make up the area covered in water are primarily woody plants or trees.
Rivers
a natural flowing watercourse, usually freshwater, flowing towards an ocean, sea, lake or another river.
estuaries

Coral Reefs
