Biomechanics Flashcards
Force - Equation
F=mass x acceleration
Types of forces
Gravity, weight, friction, air resistance
Acceleration due to gravity
9.8 m/s/s
What is inertia
An object will remain in rest/motion unless acted on by an external force.
Momentum - equation
p = mv OR momentum = mass x velocity
Conservation of momentum
total momentum before collision = total momentum after collision
Impulse - equation
impulse = force x time
Newtons 1 st law
A body will remain at rest unless acted on by an external force
Newtons 2nd law equation
Force = Mass x Acceleration OR f=ma
Newtons 2nd law Defn
An acceleration in the same direction and magnitude as the force applied.
Newtons 3rd law
For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction
Distance
Total length moved (no direction)
Displacement
How far away from a certain position (Has a direction)
Speed
distance/time (no direction)
Velocity
Displacement/time (has direction)
