Biomechanics Flashcards
Ground reaction force define as:
An equal and opposite external force that is exerted back onto the body by the ground
Qualitative analysis:
Applying principle of proper technique/combining w observations in order to make an educated evaluation.
Contralateral means what? Describe w example
When a body part located in opposite side of the body.
Ex: the latissimus dorsi and contralateral gluteus maximus work together to stabilize the hip .
Define ipsilateral with an example?
Body part is located on the same side of the body.
The gluteus medius and ipsilateral adductors work together to stabilize the body during side to side movements.
Range of motion means?
The amount of movement produced by one “1” OR multi joints.
Internal rotation & external rotation:
Rotation of a limb or body segment towards / away from the MIDLINE of the body.
Pronation?VS Supination?
A triplanar ‘movement vs motion’ THAT IS ASSOCIATED w force reduction VS production.
Mass is the amount of?
Amount of matter in an abject or physical body.
Acceleration of mass is?
How fast the object is moving.
Muscles act as levers,a lever is a ?
Relatively rigid rod or bar that rotates around fulcrum.
Lever use torque to assist in the moving of objects, define the torque?
The rotatory or rotational effect that force has around the axis.
In muscle motion line of pull means?
The direction in which a muscle is pulled.
intrinsic core stabilizers include which muscles?
Explain the intrinsic stabilizer:
Transverse abdominals & the internal obliques.
Deep inner muscles behind the superficial abdominals that have a direct effect on stabilizing lumbar pelvis hip complex ( know as LPHC).
The rotator cuff includes which muscles:
Supraspinatus
Infraspinatus
Teres minor
Subscapularis
Define shoulder impingement:
When the space between the bone on tops of the shoulder(acromion) & the tendons of the rotator cuff rub against each other during the arm elevation .
