biomechanics Flashcards
force
force is any interactions (push or pull).
what is forced used for
- get objects moving
- stop objects moving
- change direction
- change speed
- balance
what are the three main forces
moving
stopping
balancing
external forces
external forces are interactions between the body and the environment. For example gravity, friction, air resistance and water resistance.
internal forces
structures of the body that interact to produce movement. muscles and tendons act together to produce forces that causes movement.
contact (types of external forces)
contact- forces that act on objects coming into direct forces with one another
example- friction forces. ground reaction forces, wr, ar
non contact (types of external forces)
non contact- forces that act on objects without coming into direct contact with on another.. Example- gravity
force by the body and equipment
- body is used as a vehicle for applying force
example- moving your leg to kick the soccer ball
simultaneously
all the body parts move at the same time to produce force, used to produce accuracy or to attain maximum power for example a putt in gold.
sequentially
combination of forces produced by different parts of the body acting together to maximize force for example throwing, kicking and striking.
application of force by the body and equipment
“for ever reaction there is an equal and opposite reaction
for example bumper cars, when you hit each other you rebound off.
ground reaction forces
Analyzing movement
the force exerted by the ground on a body in contact with it.
