Biotic factors
Living components of the environment
Abiotic factors
Non-living components of the environment
Population
A group of the same species living in a certain area.
Community
All organisms in a certain area
Biotope
An area with all the abiotic factors
Ecosystem
All living things and non-living things in a certain area
Biomass
The total amount of all the high-energy substances in an organism
Accumulation
The proggresive build-up of substances in each subsequent link in the food chain
Producers
They make the food for all other organisms
Consumers
Animals eat the substances made by plants
Breakdown agents
The remains left by the scavengers are broken down by the breakdown agents
Biodegradable
Waste that can be degraded by breakdown agents
Population size
The number of organisms of the same species living in a certain area
Biological equilibrum
This means the population size fluctuates around a certain level
