Biology Unit 1 Flashcards
What are the characteristics of of the living things?
Growth Movement Sensitivity Excretion Reproduction Nutrition Respiration
What are the functions of these living things
Growth: your organisms begin to grow and add new cells to your body
Movement: where all organisms are able to extent
Excretion: the process of the removal of the urine and feces
Reproduction: making new organisms
Nutrition: it’s basically good it gives you energy
Respiration: all organisms break down glucose and release the energy which even break down nutrient molecules
What are the living things characteristics that the living have in common?
Cytoplasm
DNA
Enzyme
Cell membrane
Ribostomes
Characteristics of animals
- Multi cellular
- They don’t have cell walls
- Feed on organic substances
- They have a nucleus
- Feed on organic substances
Characteristics of plants
- Multicellular
- Have a nucleus
- May have roots stems and leaves
- Feed by photosynthesis
Characteristics of fungi
- Usually have multicellular
- Have a nuclei
- Have cell walls
- don’t chlorophyll
- Feed on parasitic nutrition
Characteristics of Protoctista
- Multicellular or unicellular
- have nucleus
- Cells may or may not have cell wall
- Some food by photosynthesis is and some feed on organic substances
Characteristics of prokaryotes
- Often unicellular
- Have no nuclear
- Have no cell walls
- Have no mitochondria
Characteristics of a virus
*Can cause diseases like, influenza, cold, flu and can cause some serious virus is like COVID-19, aids and more
