Q

What does the Glucose get turned into or used for ?

A
  1. Energy - For growth and activities
  2. Starch - For storage incase of winter
  3. Cellulose - It helps them build strong Cell Walls
  4. Fats and Oils - Some glucose can be turned into Storage
  5. Proteins - To help fix and repair ( amino acids )
  6. Respiration - Key in life

Q

How can it be shown experimentally that photosynthesis had been occurring in a leaf ?

A

The leaf should be boiled then placed in alcohol . Afterwards it should be rinsed in water and tested for with potassium iodide . Blue/Black means positive

Q

How can we utilise aquatic plants to demonstrate the rate of Photosynthesis ?

A

We place the leaf in a testube in water then count the oxygwn gas bubbles that emerge

Q

What happens to the light intensity as the source is moved further from a plant and what is the effect on Photosynthesis?

A

The light intensity decreases and the rate of Photosynthesis decrease

Q

Explain , using data , how the inverse square law describes the effect of distance of light source on light intensity an therefore Photosynthesis?

A

Inverse square law states that as you move the light further away the light intensity decreases by the square of the distance .

For example if you double the distance the light intensity drops to a quarter of what it was ( 1/2² = 1/4 )
