What is an antibiotic?
Medicines that help us fight infections by killing bacteria
What is agar?
A growing medium for bacteria containing nutrients needed for them to grow.
What is antibiotic resistance?
When a bacteria becomes resistant to an antibiotic. This happens from overexposure to an antibiotic
What is an antitoxin?
An antibody that counteracts a toxin produced by bacteria
What is an antigen?
Substance that makes your body produce antibodies
Aseptic technique
A procedure performed under sterile conditions such as growing bacteria

A type of pathogen. Some are good, some are bad and cause diseases
BMI
Body mass index is a measure based on a persons mass and height
What are the seven components of a healthy diet?

Categoric variable
A variable that belongs to a certain category such as blood group
Conjunctiva
Protective membrane that covers the eye
Control variable
The one that stays the same in an experiment
Cholesterol
Substance found in the blood that is produced by the liver. It is good for you but too much can clog up your arteries with plaque and can lead to heart failure or strokes. Cholesterol is needed for the building of cell membranes.
Deficiency disease
Disease you get when you don’t get enough vitamins and minerals in your diet. An example of this is scurvy, caused by lack of vitamin C
