Definition of symbiosis?
The relationship between two organisms where one or both benefits.

Conserving water, not all bacteria are bad, and taking care of ecosystems and animals
What is parasitism?
Symbiotic relationship where one benefits but the host is harmed.
What is commensalism?
One species benefits, other not affected. Some scientists say there is no such thing as commensalism.
What is mutualism?
Both species benefit.
Example of mutualism?
Oxpeckers pick bugs and parasites off for zebras; oxpeckers get food.
Example of parasitism?
Roundworms catch rides in humans and animals, using the host to stay alive and reproduce, but causes disease. Usually caught in places with bad hygiene.
Example of commensalism?
Hermit crabs pick up shells of snails once they die, providing a home for the crabs.
Why is symbiosis important?
Reminder that what humans do matters (circle of life), and that species depend on one another. Interconnected.
