Population
A group of organisms of the same species living in the same area at the same time and which are capable of interbreeding.
Ex. Group of humans
Habitat
The environment in which a species normally lives
Ex. Tree
Niche
Where and how a species lives. A species share of the habitat and it’s resources.
Ex. Garden Spider hunts for prey among plants
Community
A group of populations living and interacting with each other in a common habitat.
Ex. Neighborhood
Ecosystem
A community of independent organisms and the physical environment they inhabit.
Ex.
Species
A group of organisms that interbreed and produce fertile offspring.
Autotroph
An organism that makes it’s food from light or chemical energy.
Heterotroph
An organism that gets it’s energy by eating other organisms.
Consumer
An organism that eats another organism.
Producer
An organisms that makes its own food.
Carnivore
An organism that eats meat
Herbivore
An organism that eats plants.
Omnivore
An organism that eats both neat and plants.
