Biology (cells) Flashcards
What does flagellum do?
Flagellum helps the cell move
What do ribosomes do?
They make proteins
What is the cytoplasm
A jelly like substance, that fills is a cell, and it’s where most chemical reactions take place
What does the cell membrane do?
The cell membrane controls the transport of material from entering or exiting the cell
What does the acrosome do on the sperm?
Helps the sperm penetrate the egg’s coat
What does the nucleus do
It’s the cells control centre and stores genetic information
What is a plasmid?
A small circular dna molecule found in bacteria
What is a chromosome ?
Thread like structures located inside the nucleus of the animal and plant cell(contains DNA, proteins)
What does the mitochondria do?
This is where respiration takes place, releasing energy for this cell
What does a chloroplasts do?
The structures where photosynthesis takes place to make food for the cell
What does the vacuole do?
Contains cell sap, which helps to keep the plants, stay rigid
What does the cell wall do?
The cell wall is made of Cellulose ose, and it helps support the cell
What are the three things that are only in plant cells?
Chloroplast, vacuole, cell wall
What does the gradient of a distance-time graph give?
An objects Speed
What does the gradient of a velocity-time graph give?
An object’s acceleration
