Q

Describe the Nitrogen Cycle.

A
  1. N Fixation - lightning (N + O) or bacteria.
  2. Decomposition - decomposers turn proteins / urea into ammonium compounds.
  3. Nitrification - nitrifying bacteria change ammonium compounds into nitrites then nitrates.
  4. Denitrification - denitrifying bacteria turn nitrates into N gas (they respire the nitrates in anaerobic conditions).
