Biology Flashcards
What is a habitat?
A habitat is the environment an animal lives in.
What is population?
Population is the amount of one same species living in a single area.
What is a community?
A community is an interdependent collection of species in one area.
What factors affect an environment?
Biotic (living factors) and abiotic (non-living) factors.
List 4 abiotic factors.
1) Sunlight
2) Wind
3) Precipitation
4) Temperature
List 4 biotic factors.
1) Predators
2) Diseases
3) Competition
4) Consumers
What is a stable community?
A stable community is a community in which all populations of species stay relatively constant.
What is systematic sampling?
Systematic sampling is when samples are measured at regular intervals.
What is random sampling?
Random sampling is when the sample area is chose completely randomly.
What are 2 advantages of systematic sampling?
1) Reduces sampling bias
2) It is faster than random sampling
What are 2 advantages of random sampling?
1) Simple to carry out
2) Reduces bias
