Biology Flashcards
What are the differences between Plant and Animal cells?
Plant cells have:
>Rigid cell walls
>Permanent vacuole
>Chloroplasts (photosynthesis)
Give two differences in structure between Prokaryotic and Eukaryotic cells.
Prokaryotic cells are smaller than Eukaryotic cells
Prokaryotic cells don’t have a true nucleus but Eukaryotic cells do
What do both plants and Animal cells have the same?
> Nucleus
Cytoplasm
Cell Membrane
Mitochondria
Ribosomes
What is the Equation for magnification?
Magnification = Image size/ Real size
Give one feature of a Phloem cell that makes it specialised for its function
Phloem cells have very few subcellular structures so stuff can easily flow through them.
Describe how root hair cells are specialised for their function
They are specialised to absorb water and minerals. Due to the big surface area for absorbing water and minerals from the soil.
