Biology Flashcards
Neuromyths
a misconception generated by a misunderstanding, a misreading,
or a misquoting of facts scientifically established (by brain research) to make a
case for the use of brain research in education or other contexts
Triune brain (3 parts of forebrain and their responsibilities)
Neocortex: Problem solving, reasoning, pattern recognition
Limbic Brain: Emotion, long term memory storage (emotion can increase memory retention)
Reptilian Brain: Muscles, balance, autonomic functions (takes over during stress)
Neuroplasticity
the ability of the brain to form and reorganize synaptic connections, especially in response to learning or experience or following injury
Eustress
Optimal level of stress required for performance in learning
