Remains or traces of plants and animals the lived a long time ago.
Extinct
A living thing that is no longer found alive anywhere on earth today.
Paleontologist
A scientist that studies fossils.
Herbivore
An animal that eats plants.
Carnivore
An animal that eats meat.
Omnivore
An animal that can eat both plants and meat.
Organisms
Any living thing.
Mold
a hollow fossil form clearly showing the outside features of the organism.
Cast
formed or shaped within the mold.
Imprint (impression)
A fossil created by a print or impression.
Amber
Hardened tree sap, often a source or inset fossil.
Trace fossil
studying trace fossils, we can learn about how animals lived.
True form fossil
An actual preserved body of an animal.
Environmental conditions
A change or disturbance of the environment most caused by human influences and natural ecological process.

The process of carrying away rocks.
