If you eat too much of it is also stored as fat in the body

Proteins
- Foods for growth : basic building material (cells) of the body and make sure the cells work.
- Fixes Broken cells
- Important for building strong bones and muscles
- Seeds, nuts, beans, lentils
- Meat-good source of protein and iron
- Lentils good source protein and carbohydrates
- Chesse, milk, eggs- also contain vitamins A D E K , fats and oils
Fats and oils
Foods for storing energy and protection of organs:
-Gives energy
-Keeps body warm. Thin layer under skin protect body from cold.
- Protects organs from damage caused by falls.
-Good for your brain
-Too much makes a person fat, causes heart disease and is bad for your health.
-When energy is needed fat is broken down and the energy is made available to use.
Oil, fat, butter, nuts, margarine, peanut butter
- there are good (fish oils, nuts, coconut oil, olive oil, avo,) fats and unhealthy fats such as fried foods, chips, crisps, margarine etc.
Vitamins
A,b,c,d and e
Food for protection
-Important for protecting bones, teeth
-strengthens the immune system (which projects you against diseases by fishing germs)
- fruit, vegetables and many other foods.
- found in many foods especially fresh fruit + vegetables in bright colors.
VITAMIN C
-found in strawberries, oranges, guavas, leafy green vegetables, tomatoes.
-Protects body from infection.
- Prevents scurvy- which can cause bleeding gums, weakness, even death
Mineral ( for example iron, calcium, iodine, ets.)
Food
Important for protecting bones, teeth and immune system. Found in fruit veg and dairy products.
E.g. Iron calcium iodine zinc etc.
-Calcium good for teeth, bones. Found in dairy products
- Iron build blood that transports oxygen thew the body. Found in spinach
