bioengineering Flashcards
Technology
the sum of techniques, skills, methods, and process used in the production of goods or services or in the accomplishment of objectives
Engineering
the use of scientific principles to design and build machines, structures and other items including bridges, tunnels, roads, veichels, and buildnings
Engineering design process
a series of steps that guides engineering teams as we solve problems.
protype
a first model of something espically a machine from which other forms are devoloped or copied
cost benefit anaylisis
the process used to measure a benefit of a decision or taking action minus the costs associated with taking that action
bioengineering
the use of artificial tissues, organs or orgau componets to replace damaged or absent parts of the body such as artificial limbs
Assistive bioengineering
devoleped to help organisms but does not change them
adaptive bioengineering
devoleoped to help living organisms and does change them
biofuel
any fuel that is derived from biomass that is plant or algae material or animal waste
biomaterials
a substance that has been engineered to interact with biological systems for medical porpuse either thereputic or diagonostic
medical devices
any material apparatus, software or other article that is used to diagonose, prevent, investigate, treat, etc something associated with the body
synthettic biomaterials
materiaals made by humans
naturual biomaterials
materials from nature and made from cells
