Biodiversity and Classification pt.2 Flashcards
Microorganisms (T1)
What is Biodiversity?
Biodiversity refers to the great variety of living organisms and different ecosystems found on Earth.
How is biodiversity measured?
Through the variation of species and ecosystems.
What is biodiversity considered important to?
The long-term sustainability of ecosystems.
Why should organisms not be removed from or introduced into ecosystems?
Because all organisms in an ecosystem are dependent on each other for food,
the food web would become disrupted and the ecosystem would become unstable.
What are the three types of biodiversity?
1. Genetic Biodiversity.
2. Species Biodiversity.
3. Ecosystem Biodiversity.
Unicellular organisms are organised mainly into four groups, what are they?
1. Bacteria archaea
2. Protozoa
3. Unicellular Algae
4. Unicellular Fungi.
Furthermore on unicellular organisms,
What two groups are they lastly divided into?
1. Prokaryotes.
2. Eukaryotes.
