Biodiversity 3.1 Flashcards
What is DNA
DNA is a molecule that is found in all living things, it acts like a blueprint for all living things.
What are your Base pairs
Adenine and Thiamine go together
and
Guanine and Cytosine go together
Base pairs are always known as base pairs because
Because they are paired up inside the double helix structure of DNA Guanine and Cytosine are always rung together and Adenine and Thiamine are always rung together.
What is a Genetic code
The way that Guanine and Cytosine and Adenine and Thiamine are arranged within the DNA ladder form a recipe known as the genetic ode
What are chromosomes?
Chromosomes are found in every cell of your body and are the containers for DNA, which carry your genes.
Humans have 46 chromosomes in each cell and you get half of them from your mom and half of them from your dad.
Genes and Alleles definition
Genes are located on the chromosomes. They also come in pairs. Paired genes are called alleles. Both Alleles carry instructions for the same thing, however the instructions may be different
