Biochemistry Flashcards
1
Q
Anchoring Junctions
A
Contribute to structural stability of tissues. Connect cytoskeletal components of the cell with other cells and/or the extracellular matrix
2
Q
Gap Junctions
A
Allow for diffusion between cells without a direct connection of the cytoplasmic fluid. Formed by connexin proteins. Found in the cardiac cells.
3
Q
Tight Junctions
A
Found in epithelial cells. Prevent solutes from freely moving from one tissue into another. Most common example is the blood brain barrier.
