● Enhanced blood coagulation (Estrogen-induced, decrese Antithromin III)
● Increased levels of plasma proteins (Estrogen-induced, ↑ thyroid h, cortisol, & Vitamin D binding globulins)
● Alterations in carbohydrate metabolism (Progestins ↑ insulin release)
● Alterations in blood lipids

What are the characteristics of Alterations in blood lipids?
A
● Estrogens – favorable profile, except increase in triglycerides (bad!)
● C-19 1st generationprogestins–badprofile
● 2nd generation progestins – favorable profile b/c
they decrease free testosterone levels (testosterone normally ↑’s LDL and ↓’s HDL)
