Melatonin
What is the pineal responsible for?
Responsible for important biological rhythms including the sleep-awake cycle.
What is the hypothalamus responsible for?
Stimulates and controls the release of hormones in the pituitary gland
What is the pituitary gland responsible for?
Its known as the maser gland because the hormones released by this gland control and stimulate release of hormones in the gland.
Where is the thyroid gland located?
Throat
What does the thyroid gland release?
Releases thyroxine
What is the thyroid gland responsible for?
Responsible for regulating metabolism.
Where is the adrenal gland (cortex and medulla) located?
On top of the kidney
What does the adrenal gland (cortex) release?
Releases cortisol
What does the adrenal gland (medulla) release?
Releases adrenaline and noradernaline
What is the adrenal gland (cortex) responsible for?
Stimulates the release of glucose to provides the body with energy while suppressing the immune system
What is the adrenal gland (medulla) responsible for?
Key hormone in fight or flight.
What does the ovaries release?
Oestrogen
What is the responsibility of the ovaries?
Controls regulation of female reproduction system, including menstrual and pregnancy.
