Biurets test
add sample into a test tube, (if it is solid add water) add an equal volume of potassium hydroxide and copper sulfate and then stir for 2 minutes

Colour should turn purple

emulsion test
place sample into test tube,
- add ethanol to sample, cover the end and shake vigorously
- allow contents to settle
- pour liquid into another test tube half-filled with water
if water turns cloudy lipids are present

-add equal volume of benedicts solution
- place tube into a water bath at 95°C
colour turns from blue to cloudy orange
