Sex cells
Gamete cells
Body cells
Somatic cells
Both have the same genetic code. (germ cells)
Gametic and somatic cells
Determined by dominant and recessive alleles of one gene
Mendelian traits
Can be determined by more than one gene.
Non mendelian traits
Allows cells to reproduce to replace cells and allow organisms to grow.
Mitosis
Produces great genetic diversity.
Meiosis
Both involve cell division.
Mitosis and Meiolsis
Produces two genetically identical daughter cells from a single parent cell
Mitosis
Produces cells that are genetically unique from the parent and contain only half as much DNA.
Meiosis
Creates a unique pattern of genetic material
Crossing over
Increases the number of possible combinations that can occur in offspring.
Independent assortment
An example of this would be combining black and white flowers (BB) and (WW) and the result be BW (gray).
Incomplete dominance.
When neither of two alleles of a gene is dominant or recessive. An example of this would be the AB blood type.
Codominance
Have two complete sets of chromosomes
Diploids
