Bilogy H Mastery Quiz 1 Flashcards
Nucleus and what it contains
Nucleus controls cells motion, contains DNA and contains the nucleolus.
Nuclear envelope
Surrounds/ protects and regulates hat goes into and out of the nucleus
Cell membrane
Surrounds/protects the cell, regulates what goes into and out of the cell.
Nuclear envelope
Surrounds/protects and regulates what goes into and out of the nucleus
Nuclear pole
Small opening in the nuclear envelope where some items can enter/exit the nucleus
Nucleolus
Contains the RNA - produces the ribosomes
Cytoplasm
Surrounds the organelles and helps provide cellular support
Mitochondria
Power house of the cell, provides energy
Ribosomes
Makes protein
Endoplasmic reticulum (smooth & rough)
Both allow transport of materials within the cell, the rough ER has ribosomes attached to it
Golgi apparatus
Packages items for export out of the cell
Centrioles
Pushed in animal cell reproduction (mitosis)
Lysosomes
Produces digestive compounds that help rid the cell of waste
Vacuole
Stores water, smaller and more abundant in animal cells
Cytoskeleton and the substructures of the cytoskeleton
Provides the cell with additional support. Microfilament-small component of the cytoskeleton and microtuble-large component of the cytoskeleton
