3) radio mayday or pan pan on 16
4) order crew to evacuate engine room, close and dog hatches, cover intakes
5) pull T handle.

Abandon ship

1) issue mayday on 16. State “crew abandoning vessel”, give location , number of people.
2) order crew to don PFD’s
3) sound horn to attract attention of other vessels
4) operator last to exit, ensuring all others are off first. Assist crew out in event of capsizing or pitch pole.
5) ensure crew remains together

Question 3

Compartment flooding and damage control

Answer 3

1) account for all crew. Consider steering towards safety
2) sound horn
3) ensure bilge pumps are set appropriately
4) issue appropriate distress signal on 16. State vessel ID, location, number of people, nature of distress and intentions
5) notify fireboat base and request assistance
6) prepare pump and peri jet.
7) coordinate damage control from helm while attempting to reach safety.
