Amendment 1
Freedom of speech, religion, press, petition, assembly
Freedom of speech- when is it protected
Fully protected as long as you don’t put others in danger
Freedom of religion
- prevents gov. from creating national religion
- allows citizens to follow whatever religion they want
Freedom of press
Allows media to function without government interference
Freedom of assembly
allow citizens to gather together publicly without interference from government
Freedom of petition
Citizens can make a complaint about government without fear of punishment.
2nd Amendment
Allows citizens to keep firearms/guns in their homes
3rd amendment
denies soldier’s access to homes without consent
4th amendment
Protects citizens against illegal searches in homes without reasonable suspicion
5th amendment
- Protects citizen from being put on trial twice for the same crime
- Have the right not to speak in trial
6th Amendment
- Grants everyone an attorney
- Grants everyone a fair and speedy trial
7th Amendment
The right to a trial by jury (jury decides not judge)
8 Amendment
no cruel punishment. no excessive bail (money to get free)

if not in constitution rights belong to citizens(example right to privacy)

if not in constitution power goes to states (ex: education)
