Added to the Constitution of the United States immediately after it was ratified.
What is the Bill of Rights?
First amendment set up to protect people from the federal government.
What is Freedom of Religion, Speech, Press, Assembly, and Petition?
Guarantees individuals the right to own guns, or states the right to maintain a militia.
What is the Right to Bear Arms?
Amendment set up to make sure that the federal government does not try do disarm the people or state.
What is the Second Amendment?
Amendment set up to make sure the federal government cannot occupy your house without your permission.
What is the Third Amendment?
During the Revolutionary War, the British would go into people’s houses and live there.
What is Quartering of Troops?
Amendment that protects a person’s rights against police.
What is the Fourth Amendment?
The police cannot come into your home and look around without first obtaining a search warrant from a judge.
What is Search and Seizure?
If accused, you don’t have to testify against yourself. You don’t have to say that you did the crime.
What is Rights of the Accused?
Amendment that says, you have the right to remain silent.
What is Fifth Amendment?
Amendment that says, you have the right to an attorney.
What is the Sixth Amendment?
The government cannot accuse someone of a crime and throw the person in jail.
What is More Rights of the Accused/ What is the Sixth Amendment?
The right to a trial by jury and the right to appeal the ruling if not satisfied with the verdict.
What is the Trial by Jury? / What is the Seventh Amendment?
Bills and Fines have the match the accused crime.
What is Bill, Fines and Punishments’ or the Eight Amendment?
Just because an individual’s rights are not listed in the Bill of Rights doesn’t mean it does not exist.
