What is the Law?
It addresses ways of living,
The first 5 books of law are Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy
What is History?
The Narrative/ Truth
Some books are Matthew, Mark, Luke, John and Acts
What is Poetry?
Compares and Contrasts emotions of events rather than giving detailed descriptions in order to feel like you lived through the event.
A book poetry psalms.
What is wisdom?
It gives insights and knowledge about the time of Jesus. Some books include the book of Job and Proverbs.
What is Prophecy?
It talks about the life of Jesus, Some books include Isaiah and Jeremiah.
What are the Epistles?
It literally just addresses the letters with books like the Corinthians or Thessalonians.
What is the Apocalyptic?
Talks about the end of time and one book in this genre is the book of Revelation
What is Dogma?
An absolute unchanging truth. A law that can never be broken. I.E. The grass is green.
What is Doctrine?
Ideas that are held in line with dogma but can evolve broader.
Examples of Dogma?
Assumption of Mary, Immaculate Conception, and the Ten Commandments.
Examples of Doctrine?
Praying Regularly
Going to Church on Sundays
