Anchoring Bias
They only take in the first offer or piece of information they hear and base everything else off it
Availability Heurisitcs
Might overestimate the importance of the information available to them
Ex. Smoking is bad but they want to try because their grandfather lived to 100 and smoked 3 packs a day
Bandwagon effect
The amount of people that learn about a belief increases the same time as the number of people that believe in the belief
Blind-spot bias
When you dont recognise your own subconscious bias
Choice-supportive bias
You choose an option that makes you happy but has many flaws that could harm you or your friends
Clustering Illusion
Seeing patterns in random events
Ex. Seeing a pattern in the slots in a slot machine
Conformation Bias
When you only listen to the information that proves your own perception of an idea or argument
Conservation Bias
Where people believe old information more than new information
Ex. The Earth was said to be flat before it was found to be round, so many people still believe that the earth is flat
Information Bias
When people seek unimportant information that provides no change in the world
Ostrich effect
When you purposefully decide to ignore the dangers of a decision
Outcome bias
Judging the decision based off the outcome of the event.
Ex. You think gambling is good because you won alot in Vegas
Overconfidence
Some people are too confident in their answer
Placebo effect
When you believe something is very real that it takes full effect.
Pro-innovation bias
When an innovotation is overvalued for its usefulness that people ignore the ricks it poses
Recency
Tend to believe more recent information than past information
Salience
Focusing on the worst possible outcome
Selective perception
When our expectations change how we view the world
Stereotyping
Expecting a group of people to behave a certain way based off of societies view points
Survivorship bias
You focus on the winners rather than the losers, giving us a false perspective of a concept
Zero-risk bias
When looking at an event we always make sure to eliminate risks
Bias by omission
The news covers one concept over many news articles, this changes their perception of the world
Bias by emphasis
The main articles on a news page that talk about a certain a topic that changes the perspective of the world
Bias by use of language
The use of language changes the perspective of a story or event
Bias in photos
Unflattering photos taken to distort the perception of the event or person
