Data warehouse
condensed summary of all operational data bases, used for data mining
same as analytical database
Data mart
subset of data warehouse

process of analyzing data to extract info no offered by raw data alone
Data cube
like a pivot table, a way to look at data
Dashboard
integrates info from multiple components and tailors info to individual preferences
Operational database
used to store transactional info, used for daily business process, accounting, reports
transactional database
support daily operational tasks and generate reports
Analytical database

ETL
extracts, transforms, and loads data into data warehouse
Clustering(cluster analysis)
a technique used to divide an information set into mutually exclusive groups, such that member s of each group are similar to one another and members of different groups are as far apart as possible
Association detection –
finds what types of things occur together, reveals which variable are related, nature and frequency of relationships
Market basket analysis –
analyzes web sites and detects peoples buying behavior and predicts future buying
Key influencers analysis –
factors that can significantly predict, to some degree, or explain a variance in another factor(logistic regression and linear, neutral network, decision tree, naïve bayes methods – know that these predict)
Time series analysis(forecasting)
predictions made on the basis of time-series info(time stamped info collected at a particular frequency)
