At 200km. Because the pressure was so high.
What is a lahar?
The lava melts snow and ash and it runs down the mountain side

Amero.
Why did so many people die? (Two reasons)
When people did come to rescue them they brought camera men and politians instead of tools to help save them. Also, the eruption started and 11pm so most people were asleep and didn’t have time to get away.
How many people died?
25,000 people died.
Why did people choose to ignore the warnings?
As they are living near a volcano the land is very fertile and good for growing crops etc. and they didn’t want to leave there land as it brings them money as its there livelihood and job.
Nevado del Ruiz is a composite volcano, what is a composite volcano?
A volcano made up of layers of lava and ash.
