The roaring 20s
- It was a carefree time, people put the gloom of war behind them.
- Wealth, jazz music, dance crazes, movies, motor cars, technology mass production
- for some it was a time of confidence and fun, but for many it was not.
- mass production was faster and easier because of the invention of the assembly line
- women gaining more freedom
Great Depression
1929 the New York stock exchange collapsed
Many lost all and jobs
The world plunged into it worst crisis since ww1
What caused the gd?
Companies making more that they could sell. - people to poor to buy
Investors used borrowed money to buy shares, expecting to sell for a quick profit when prices rose, this caused share prices to rise very high and people then rushed to sell shares and the prices collapsed
Fasism
Extremist movement arose from the deep social divisions that followed ww1.
Right winged
Support came from those who feared that communist or socialist worked might seize power - middle class people

Private ownership of capital, free marker and competition
Communism
State controls economy
All goods are equally shared by the people
